My name is Evan Joshua Gomez. I was born on December 27, 1990. I was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. I have two brothers, Ryan and Derek. We have a best friend who also lives with my family named Edgar. We consider Edgar a brother. We have an old english bulldog name Daisy. My mother says that Daisy thinks she's human. She rarely barks and listen very well.
I like to keep busy and work out at El Paso Fitness Center. I'm trying to encourage my mother to run a 5k with me this year.
My parents are divorced and I live with my mother. I am very lucky to say that my parents have always gotton along through all these years. They are very supportive and I am truly blessed that they have always have the best intentions for all of us.
My parents always kept me and my brothers busy in sports. My mother said this was so we won't sit around watching too much television. I played football, basketball, baseball, and was on the swim team.
My mother is a paralegal with the County Attorney's Office. My father is self-employed in real estate and a pastor. My father does missionary work and goes to Juarez, Mexico to preach. He has also traveled to Africa and the Phillipines on missionary work.
My brother Ryan is now attending Rhema Bible School and will graduate in May of 2012. My brother Derek wants to be a real estate agent and just started the Academy School of Real Estate. Edgar has been attending El Paso Community College and plans to transfer to San Marcos School. I am also an uncle to little Ava Sophia. She is the most beautiful baby ever.
In 2004, my father decided that he wanted to be a pastor and attended Rhema Bible School in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Rhema is outside of Tulsa, Oklahoma. I went to stay with him for one school year. It was fun and different. The school was big and impressive. The weather is also very extreme. There are tornadoes and earthquakes. Broken Arrow is green and has many hills but is humid. In the winter, its very cold and snow a lot.
I graduated from Eastwood High School in 2009. I decided to attend Rhema Bible School, like my father, and left in August of 2009 to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. I graduated Rhema Bible School in 2011 and obtain my certification in biblical studies. I was supposed to go to the Phillippines on a mission but decided to return to El Paso. My dad gave me a car for my graduation present.
I lived in Oklahoma by myself for two years. This prove to be both challenging and exciting. I met many people from all over the world like Brazil, Norweign, Italy, Switzerland, and Africa. There were over 350 students that graduated in my class from Rhema Bible School.
While attending Rhema Bible School, I also worked at different places like Abercrombie and Men's Wearhouse. It was funny to hear that people thought I was from California. When I asked them why they would say that, its because when you say you're from Texas, they assume you should be wearing cowboys boots and a hat.
Upon graduating from Rhema Bible School I decided I wanted to enter into the medical field. And so here we are, starting off at UTEP to continue my studies to achieve my goal.
I was saddened to see that UTEP did not accept any credits from Rhema Bible School. My mother said not to be discouraged about this issue and to go forward and not to stop going to school until I become a medical doctor.
